Weapon Retention / Disarmament Course

Course Description:

Of the law enforcement officers shot each year, between 42% - 60% are shot with their own gun.  Getting your weapon taken from you in an armed confrontation is a very real threat. 

 

APT Firearms Academy's Weapon Retention / Disarmament Course will teach techniques on:

• Retaining your handgun or long gun during a confrontation

• Disarming an individual threatening you with a weapon  

 

Topics covered:

• Reactionary gap

• Controlling the weapon

• The decision to disarm or not to disarm

• During disarmament or retention

• Response after completing the disarmament

 

Equipment needed:

•  All equipment will be provided by APT
