Course description:

APT Firearms Academy's Precision Rifle I Course is an entry-level course designed for those who have had little or no formal training.  This course introduces the proper techniques of how to shoot and manipulate a precision rifle.  The basic skills presented are the core foundation of developing a solid shooting program.

This is a Missouri P.O.S.T. approved course

  • Safety and handling

  • Fundamentals of rifle

  • Nomenclature

  • Introduction to internal and external ballistics

  • Understanding MOA and Mil-Dot adjustments

  • Introduction to wind reading

  • Optical sights

  • Slings

  • Use of bipod

  • How to zero rifle

  • The cold bore shot

  • Keeping a log book

  • Data gathering and observation

  • Introduction to positional shooting – prone, kneeling, sitting

  • Hearing and eye protection

  • Spotting scope

  • 100 - 150 rounds of ammunition (No SS109 or armor piercing)

  • Sling

  • Binoculars

  • Shooting mat

  • Bipod

  • Sandbags (2 small)

  • Rifle data book or notebook

  • Calculator

  • Pen, pencil, highlighter

  • Handgun and gear

  • Flashlight

  • Gun bag or backpack

  • Cleaning kit

  • Snivel gear

  • Water and snacks

  • Sunscreen and bug repellent

  • Sack lunch
